Tonight we welcome Animation Director Bryan Fordney to our season-long Archer discussion. This week’s episode, “Crossing Over,” welcomes the Season 3 returns of Nikolai Jakov and everyone’s favorite schizophrenic half-cyborg spy nemesis, Barry Dylan. Just like our other guests Bryan will be here to answer questions and provide juicy behind-the-scenes info. In-between pulls from the Jägermeister machine, of course.

Tonight we welcome Illustration Director TJ Buford and the return of Katya to our Archer open thread. “Skin Game” has a helluva lot of work to do to stack up to chicken & waffles strip clubs and the chupacraba of dicks, but cyborg secret agent battles in ISIS headquarters is a good place to start.

Adam Reed’s “Archer” is obviously heavily influenced by James Bond movies. Sterling Archer is a mixture of James Bond, Inspector Clouseau, and maybe a dash of Gob Bluth. I love Bond films (and I’m stoked about a blond Javier Bardem starring as the villain in Bond 23), but while James Bond has a certain suave charm, how much more entertaining would that character be if he delivered Sterling Archer’s lines?

Tonight marks the first half of “Space Race,” the two-part Archer season finale with guest star and UPROXX favorite, Bryan Cranston. We’ll be welcoming in our final special guest from the Archer team, Background Director Jon Bass, this evening. No special guest for next week’s final Season 3 live blog. Instead we’ll have a pretty amazing treat earlier in the week that you will not want to miss.

FX greeted us with an early holiday gift last week with the announcement that Archer will return on January 17th. But that’s still over a month away and most of us will find ourselves in need of a regular ISIS fix between now and then. Well, as you may or may not be aware, there’s just enough Archer goodness scattered around the world wide web to keep you leveled off until the S4 premiere (I, for one, am afraid if I quit cold turkey the cumulative hangover will kill me).

It’s Archer Week here at UPROXX — in case you hadn’t noticed — and with the Season 4 premiere inching closer I thought I’d put together a public service announcement of sorts, outlining the running gags and themes that everyone should know. And not “everyone should know” in the sense that they’re really funny and happen often, but in the sense that you should judge and possibly de-friend anyone in your life who isn’t keenly aware and excited about them.

Note: Archer Art Director — and the moaning vocals behind Brett Buckley — Neal Holman will be dropping in this afternoon. Please direct all questions @Neal in the thread. We’ll spend days, weeks, months, entire Rush reunion tours debating the best Kriegerisms from the treasury that was “Legs.” It was the Krieger heavy episode you’ve all been clamoring for, and it did not disappoint.

Sterling Archer gets around. Whether it be one night stands, professionals, co-workers, or potential soulmates, the man has had and paid for — literally and figuratively — many confrontations with the opposite sex. International spy work makes that sort of thing possible. Take finding yourself a pirate king, for example. That has its advantages as referenced above.
“Who is Sterling Archer’s father?” It’s the largest looming question in the Archer universe. The mystery has been haunting Sterling himself since the Season 1 finale, “Dial M for Mother,” where Malory revealed that Navy Cross-winning fighter pilot John Fitzgerald “Black Jack” Archer, who supposedly died when Sterling was a child, was all a figment of her imagination.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that despite all the cyborg action on Archer, Sterling himself is the one who is seemingly indestructible. Dude has been through a helluva lot, both physically and emotionally. And that’s to not even mention all the probable VD and the ever-lingering threat of a cumulative hangover that would most likely kill him if he were to ever stop drinking.

Tomorrow night we will be introduced to Father Guido Sarguchi, Sterling Archer’s latest brilliantly excessive alter ego, as the ISIS gang goes undercover in Papal Chase. In honor of everyone’s new favorite religious figure (great mustache, that guy) the Floyd County team has helped me compile this collection of Archer’s most memorable — and always ultimately unsuccessful — undercover disguises.
Last week brought you the exclusive first look at Pam Poovey’s conflict resolution ISIS orientation video and the first ever glimpse at Lil’ Pam and all the puppet real talk one animated web clip can handle.
Today our friends at AV Club have treated us to the latest Gun Safety training installment where Sterling Archer answers the most commonly asked question of new ISIS recruits: “Do we get to use guns?” Hijinks, hilarity, and heavy drinking ensues.
As we close in on the Archer Season 5 premiere (Monday at 10PM on FX) it only seems fitting to pivot our coverage from what will be happening this season to why we fell in love with the show to begin with. And nothing says that like a supercut of all the awesome things Sterling Archer has said through four seasons of being the world’s premiere womanizing alcoholic super spy.
